Ashton sees United’s performance as average despite beating Everton.

Former England striker Dean Ashton believes Manchester United’s performance was nothing special despite their 4-0 Premier League thrashing of Everton on Sunday.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkze scored twice each to help the Red Devils secure their first league win. But Ashton said the performance was just average.UFABET

“I don’t think Manchester United were that good.” Ashton told Sky Sports. “After the two goals in the first half they looked a bit more comfortable in possession. And were able to break through Everton’s defence a bit better.”

“There were moments where he was excellent on the counter-attack. That’s because they have players who are good at that. But the stats show what the game is like – Man Utd had an XG of 0.78 but won 4-0.”

“That gives them confidence and maybe they can look past the average performance from Man United. I was impressed with Everton, 4-0, it’s a worry for the upcoming games.”

Joshua Zirkzee doubled the Red Devils’ lead before half-time. Before both goal goalscorers grabbed his brace against the Toffees just one minute into the second half. However, Ashton was not impressed.

Speaking live via Sky Sports News [1 December, 2:03pm], he said: “Manchester United are stinking the place out. They have been so average, it’s unbelievable.

Everton have been excellent up to the 18-yard box. But the pass or cross has let Everton down. Man United have not had a sniff of a chance so it’s a strange performance.”
